Biography
I joined Franke Beckett as an associate attorney in March 2023. Prior to joining the firm, I worked as an associate with a small boutique firm that focused on insurance defense work and criminal matters. As an associate, I served as “second chair” on jury trials and other Maryland Circuit Court matters. Most of my trial experience, however, was in the Maryland District Court where I was solely responsible for defending personal injury cases. The District Court practice meant that I was trying a case at least once a week – a valuable experience in honing trial skills.
Immediately after graduating from the University of Baltimore Law School in 2020, I clerked for the Honorable Richard R. Trunnell of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County. As a law clerk, I would conduct legal research related to issues from the cases the Judge was deciding and assist in preparing initial drafts of decisions under his direction. Because Judge Trunnell was the discovery judge, he assigned me the task of drafting new discovery rules for cases in Anne Arundel County. While clerking, I had the unique opportunity to watch and analyze the effectiveness of a wide assortment of different attorneys appearing in the Circuit Court. This was a valuable lesson in what makes for effective advocacy.
During law school, I practiced as a Rule 19 student attorney working in the University of Baltimore Low-Income Tax Clinic. There, I was able to assist individuals with their tax issues and, importantly, understand the key role an attorney has as a counselor. This experience greatly impacted how I see the role of an attorney, as not just trying cases, but also assisting clients understand and navigate a complex world.
I grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Criminology as well as a minor in Political Science and a minor in Leadership Studies from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.
I settled down in Annapolis with my girlfriend and currently enjoy watching movies, cycling, and trying new places to dine out.
