Margaret S. Abbott
Paralegal
I began working with the firm in 2012. Before coming here, I worked with two highly regarded, local lawyers for almost twenty years: one a real estate attorney in Annapolis until his firm closed due to his death and one a trial lawyer until he closed his office upon becoming a judge. In addition to this experience, I have worked in other local, small Annapolis businesses. It is important to me to work where our clients are treated as our neighbors.
Being part of a small, but focused, law firm means I get to know our clients and I am positioned to help them navigate the process of receiving legal services. Our team-based practice model works to deliver effective and timely client services. But our practice model is about much more than an efficient way of conducting a law practice. Our goal is to create a place where clients can feel comfortable, indeed, where they can feel safe. Without such an environment it is difficult for us to provide the best possible services to our clients. It certainly can be stressful to settle the estate of a loved one or to be involved in a lawsuit related to a trust or an estate. Often estate planning can be challenging. It is not easy to learn about and balance the complexity of tax and probate rules while structuring a plan that will reflect one’s wishes and accomplish one’s goals. I enjoy working with our clients, being a calm presence, and helping create a protective environment that promotes the delivery of the legal services needed by our clients.
I came to Annapolis in 1980 when my father was stationed at the United States Naval Academy as a Marine officer. For fifteen years, I lived in Severna Park where I raised two daughters. Recently, I’ve relocated to Annapolis.
